Beach Bladers of South Florida

What the heck is Meetup? And what does it have to do with the Beach Bladers?

Time Magazine called internet service "a convenient, non-threatening way to connect to other people who share similar interests and live nearby. The Toronto Sun said, "... an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and others in a stress free environment. It's as simple as that."

In 2007, Beach Blader member Anna Schafer suggested using as an additional way for local skaters to find the skate club and join area skates. She signed up as an organizer with and got other local skaters to do the same.

Today there are more than 100 members enrolled and more joining every month. Members create their own profile and communicate ("post a greeting") with other members to arrange their own skate or sign up for a scheduled Beach Blader skate.

We urge you to join Meetup even if you are already a Beach Blader member. It's easy to sign up on - just click on this link and follow the instructions.

Once you sign up, you'll see a directory of members, including individual photos and profiles. Write a few words about yourself to create your profile. Select how you want to receive reminders about upcoming skates: you can log on to see them or have them sent to your email address on a schedule of your choice.

While we offer several skates during the week, based on participation at each skate event we know that more local skates on different schedules would draw more skaters. The way to get a skate organized near you is to sign on as an assistant organizer and host skates in your neighborhood or along a favorite route.

If you are interested, please "post a greeting" to one of the Meetup organizers: Gene, Jim or Dewi.
